Anne Murphy was born in Island. Her date of birth was recorded in the civil records as 16 February 1864, when her father officially registered her birth in the district of Virginia within the Union of Oldcastle, County Cavan. Bernard Murphy, recorded his occupation as a farmer.

Anne baptism date was recorded as 15 February 1864. Her baptismal sponsors were John Growney and Margaret McEnroe.

A discrepancy appears in Anne’s civil registered when her birth date was recorded as being on 16 February 1864, while her church baptism was recorded as 15 February 1864.

On 10 July 1881, Anne married John McEnroe at the Roman Catholic chapel of Munterconnaught. At the time of their marriage, John was a 37-year-old bachelor and shoemaker residing in Island, while Anne was 18 and noted as a spinster and shopkeeper, also living in Island.

Their fathers were recorded as Michael McEnroe (small farmer) and Bernard Murphy (farmer). The ceremony was witnessed by John Clerkin and Anne Growney.

Following their marriage, Anne and John settled into family life in the locality, appearing in the 1901 census residing in Island, where John worked as a farmer.

By the 1911 census, Anne was recorded as a widow, managing the household alongside her son Laurence.

Anne passed away on 19 July 1914 at Beherna, aged 69 years, from acute bronchitis and heart failure.
